Small Label October continues on with Indonesian punks, Saturday Night Karaoke aka SNK. Their new album, “Professional Goofballs” is out now on Monster Zero Records. It has to be tough in Indonesia being a punk. Here in the states we may get funny looks, or people may talk shit to us. We don’t conform to Uncle Sam’s fake American Pie life. Yet we retain the freedom to dress how we like, listen to our own music, and generally enjoy freedom of movement. Sure its not perfect, but we are not being forced into many things.
Indonesia is ruled by Sharia law and many punks have been arrested simply for being punks. I’m proud to review SNK’s new album and provide them with a safe place to visit! This album’s mix of poppy and catchy punk tunes sounds like it rolled right out of southern California. This album is just plain fun. My personal favorite tracks on the album are, “Buzzer Rejector”, “Lamar, “Never Learn”, “T.S.B.”, “Do The Gawking Geek, and Bertemu”.
The mix of punk and nerdcore add to the fun atmosphere the album sets. ‘Do The Gawking Geek” is absolutely hilarious. Yet the track “Bartemu” with its mix of surf, pop and punk, shows us that SNK is extremely talented. Overall I think any pop punk fan will love this album.
