As COVID-19 and government corruption race across the globe. I felt like today would be a good day to highlight some awesome underdogs from Brazil. End Of Pipe may have formed in 2006, but their 90’s punk sound continues into 2020. On June 1rst 2020, the band dropped their latest release, “Mass Hysteria”.  Oh and today Bandcamp is donating all fees made from purchases to change and racial justice programs today! So be sure to make a purchase! So let’s check out “Mass Hysteria”.

The title track, “Mass Hysteria” is up first. This song reminds me of Bad Religion’s, ground breaking “Suffer” album. Everything on this song kicks ass. Medeiros’s vocals sound like a young Greg Graffin, while the guitar shreds 90’s like chords. Berretta’s drums are like a riptide and lead an angry revolution with Censi’s bass lines. This track has a guest appearance from Felix from Hardlife / Mallet / Kamikazes Refuse.

The next track is “80 Shots” and encapsulates the Black Lives Matter message, “Society is deeply rooted in systematic racism”. It also features Emillie Plamondon, from 50 Shades of Punk Rock / Excuse me mister.  I could go on about this forever, but the message is simple. We MUST stamp out racism in all forms and end police brutality. “80 Shots” is a fantastic song with powerful lyrical content.

“They did not order to stop it
Did they want to kill a man or our entire humanity?
They had no chance to survive
The old racist way of shooting first and asking later”

Would I be an asshole if I said I chose my punk rock family over my own personal family? Well if that’s the case I am indeed an asshole. Our punk rock family has always been there during the worst of times and fits perfectly with the next song, “Choose Your Family”. I bet you will be singing along quickly with this catchy number. Medeiros kills it again on vocals. “Chance For The World” follows brilliantly with some chaotic 90’s chords, and excellent bass lines.

***CPRA NOTE: We are currently running very behind on reviews and doing our best to catch up to the demand. If you donate your review will be pushed to the top***

The next song, “Lost Cause” features a guest appearance by Mark Vecchiarelli  from Shades Apart. The guitar absolutely shreds on this track. It has a classic 90s skate punk sound. This is one of my personal favourite tracks. Scott Hallquist from Ten Foot Pole / DC Fallout guest appears on the next song, “Call My Name”.

This is my overall favorite song! It strays the line of great melodic hardcore, yet retains a great pop punk style. The last song is, “Memories”. This one feels dark, yet the chorus provides a gleam of hope. The gang vocals on this one really stick out for me. The work on guitar is super impressive.

Overall End Of Pipe’s, “Mass Hysteria” is an excellent album packed with everything I love about 90s punk rock. The melodic hardcore mixed with occasional metal riff is a blast to listen to. Don’t delay pick this one up and also help Bandcamp support racial injustice at the same time. You can buy this album here, https://endofpipe.bandcamp.com/.
