“GRIMACE RECORDSRe-releases the epic 1984 The International P.E.A.C.E. compilation to benefit Mutual Aid Anarchist organization Mutual Aid Disaster Relief. Who are working on the ground to fight the corona virus. www.mutualaiddisasterrelief.org
Just by listening to the online Grimace Records P.E.A.C.E Compilation Spotify playlist you are supporting the fight against the spread of the corona virus.
Commonly referred to as the P.E.A.C.E. compilation, first released in 1984 by R Radical Records, the label run by MDCfrontmanDave Dictor in association with San Francisco Bay Area punk fanzine Maximumrocknroll. The “P.E.A.C.E.” in the album title is an acronym for “Peace, Energy, Action, Cooperation, Evolution.” This record documents the state of Reagan-era hardcore, just before the popularity of extreme music spread into popular culture.
In celebration of 40 years of Hardcore, this release has bands from around the world in what was a mammoth task. “It was so exciting to connect punks around the world. There was no internet, we had to show up and find others. These are the pioneering hardcore political punk bands that forged the way for so many growing punk scenes around the world.”
Per Dave Dictor – MDC – (Millions Of Dead Cops)
““I have released the PEACE-War Compilation again with Grimace Records. Franco Mares, MDC – Millions Of Dead Cops MDC bassist and political punk father, Tim Yohannan, the founder of Maximum Rocknroll Radio and Zine (the Epicenter Record Store and Venue and the @924 Gilman Street Music Project.) I wanted to give newer generations another chance to catch the music and the collective experience of bands and people working together for a project to raise money for what we felt were dedicated groups. For the first PEACE-War Compilation, we sent off the money to Anti Nuclear Groups such as the Clamshell Alliance, the Great Peace March in 1986 that MDC participated in, to the Greenham Women’s Peace Group. Also included have been @Greenpeace, the @Sea Shepherd Global, Food Not Bombs (Global)(They’re still going strong! We all will miss the 40th Anniversary of this 40-year proponent of free vegan sharing), for Seeds of Peace, an activist soup kitchen supporting protesters in Mercury Nevada, Big Mountain, Navajo groups fighting Uranium Mining and who are now fighting fracking on Navajo land, Tractors For Nicaragua (food aid), the African National Congress(fighting Apartheid at the time). @Global Wildlife Federation, the Orangutan Project, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).”
