You know that odd feeling you get when you locate some awesome new music? It’s like a blast of serotonin to the brain. It makes you smile, pass it onto friends, and creates lifelong sustaining memories? Ok so maybe I’m caught in a bad bandmance with Off The Mark’s latest release,  “Aging Disgracefully”.

Off The Mark is returning from a 6 year hiatus. They haven’t missed a beat! The EP starts out with. “The Answer”. “Your answer to going nowhere, is giving up before your last try”. Now that’s some pretty powerful shit. Combine with great lyrics, kick ass drums, and pop punk riffs. This is probably one of my favorites off the EP. “When You Say”, slows it down a bit questioning the struggle of a relationship, but searching for hope. Is love lost?

“On My Own”, talks of struggling on your own. Searching to find your place in this thing we call life. Hell I just turned 40 not long ago, but one thing I’ve learned I’m done being someone I’m not. This track is full of hope, and I love it.

“I Don’t Need This”, A song about dealing with life’s changes. I really enjoyed harmonization and guitar riffs on this one. “Success In Moderation”, is about making mistakes, and taking every little win as a win. This song fits our definition of, “Break Up Punk” to a T! “Last Chance” is great song about living life one day at a time. I adore this song as well. You will be singing the chorus long after the track is over.

So let’s head over to “Permanent Holiday”. Alright this song is about walking away from a bad situation and finding you again. “Well I’m packing up everything, I’m heading on a permanent holiday vacation in the sun away from you”. If you need something to help you walk away from something bad in your life. Put this track on and walk right outta the door!

The song, “Stay” slows in down a little. I loved the background guitar and drums in the intro. This is plain and simple a beautifully well written love song. Not in that sappy kinda way, but heartfelt. Let’s move onto, “Same Old Song”. We really see the more harcore side to Off The Mark on this one. They bring a darker and harder sound on this one.

“We’re Doing Alright”, starts out with some great acoustic guitar. The intro builds into all- encompassing assault of pop punk. This is by far my favorite track off the album! The message, the music, combined to leave a memorable experience. I’m praying Off The Mark comes through Denver. Oh please great Spaghetti Monster bring them through!

We asked Off The Mark’s, Paul Levesque for more background information from the band and here is his reply, “The band started In early 2000s in Mesa az. We have put out 2 EPs. You’re so five years ago and point of reference. We have been on hiatus for about 6 years. We decided to start it back up again. We just played our first show In that time last weekend. We are having a dual release show with system Restore (also on no affiliation) June 24 at yucca tap room In Tempe, AZ.”

Alright let’s call this a wrap. Off The Mark is continuing the So Cal style of pop punk we have all come to love and admire. Their lyrics combined with powerful bass, guitar riffs, and drums, becomes a must download for this album. They are also on No Affiliation label, which by the way is adding great punk to it’s libary daily. Be sure to check out some our past NAR reviews here, .
