From the very first notes of these French pop punk rockers latest effort, I am transported back to the early 2000’s and the sound that dominated pop culture at that time. While perhaps a bit on the formulaic side of the spectrum, that doesn’t deter from that really joyful sound that can only be found in good Pop Punk. It’s that feel-good sound that can change your mood in two minutes or less, and it’s in this way that Lame Shot delivers.

The vocal harmonies are tight, the songs are hooky and everything is sonically balanced. In my opinion, while this kind of pop sensibility makes sense for the genre, it does detract from establishing a sense of uniqueness or originality. The songs are good, but are they especially memorable from scores of other pop punkers doing the same thing? No.  However, these songs would fit well on any good pop punk summer mix you may create.
